Always an active and energetic Republican, and a man of wide experience in the party councils, he is well fitted for promotion in the party.

In 1897 Colonel Quinby was appointed a member of the Board of Trustees of the New Hampshire Asylum for the Insane.

He was made a Mason in 1871 in Lakeport, and is Junior Grand Warden of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of New Hampshire, Right Eminent Grand Commander of the Grand Commandery of Knights Templars of New Hampshire, and an active member of the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite of th'j Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the United States of America.

He is Vice-President of the Laconia National Bank and the City Savings Bank of Laconia.

Colonel Quinby is a prominent candidate for the United States Senatorship to succeed Hon William Chandler.
